Great Rivers 2-1-1’s primary mission during times of disaster is to maximize community access to critical information and resources. Great Rivers 2-1-1 will facilitate this by aggressively seeking new and updated information. Great Rivers 2-1-1 will actively disseminate such information to individuals impacted by the disaster, the media, general public, other agencies, organizations, and individuals involved in the disaster response efforts

How Does Great Rivers 2-1-1 Assist During A Disaster?
- Offering support to disaster victims
- Sharing accurate and up-to-date disaster resource information
- Linking people who have needs with resources that can help them
Collaborative Relationships Within the Community
- Networking with other agencies involved in disaster relief and recovery efforts
- Assisting with a county’s disaster efforts (i.e. volunteer coordination, gathering disaster reports, tracking unmet needs)
- Handling calls that might otherwise inappropriately go to 911, such as where do I go for shelter/food or how can I help fill sand bags.
